Please make sure that you are fit enough to undertake the walk you intend to join. If you’re unsure of your fitness level, try a short and easy walk first: it’s much better to find a walk a little too slow and easy than to make yourself miserable and exhausted. Most Ramblers’ walks are off-road in rural areas. Please have suitable footwear and clothing for the walk you intend to join, and bring some food and drink, even if the walk includes a pub or café break. Leaders may refuse to accept participants who in their opinion are inadequately equipped or unfit. When in doubt, contact the organisers or the walk leader in advance. For your own and others’ safety please read and abide by any advice and guidelines issued by the organisers, and the instructions of the walk leader. Though walking is inherently one of the safest outdoor activities, no activity is completely without risk and it is your responsibility to behave sensibly and to minimize the potential for accidents.
Attendance on some walks needs to be booked in advance. For details (updated 06/03/22) see here.

Having completed Part 1 with Chris leading we arrive back at Soudley Village Hall for a refreshment break. Members can choose to finish here or to complete parts 2 and 3 with Jackie leading for an additional 6 miles. Taking a path up-hill over a road and onto a wide fire track. This winds upwards to Staple Edge bungalows and some great views over the west of the Forest. Then downhill, across a brook (which may or not be babbling) to swing left onto a wide fire track. The track takes us down and then up before another left turn off into the undergrowth brings us to the banks of the first of Mallards Pike lakes. We'll follow this until crossing another track and onto the second more populated lake. The well-trodden track alongside the water will take us to a left turn up to another wide track, then left again until a steep path to the right brings us back to the bungalows. Then down the valley using paths through old mine and quarry workings before crossing a road and making our way back to the cars. This part of the route is steep in places and if its wet can be a bit slippery. Walking on a mix of forest tracks and footpaths. No dogs on parts 2 and 3. w3w: tastings.masts.candidate
